Our History
Maple Springs was organized as a cooperating church in the Southern Baptist Convention in 1900. The earliest record found is from the minutes of the Grand Cane Baptist Association for the year 1902. The total membership in the year 1902 was 124. The year 1918 lists the Rev. Daniel B. Register as Pastor, preaching only the third Sunday of each month. He is also the pastor at Wood Springs, Mt. Olivet, and Mim Springs Baptist churches. The minutes of the 1922 Meeting do not show anyone listed as pastor, but Bro. Register is listed again in 1924 with a membership of 69. He possibly served 15 years, remaining as pastor until 1933 with members listed as 70. With few date records being kept, it's hard to keep an exact time line, but these were listed. Rev. E.L. Spence, Rev. G.W. Coward, Rev. Elroy Jones, Rev. Jimmy Brossette serve Maple Springs until 1955. The Rev. Charlie T. Jones was called as pastor in March of 1955. The membership climbed to 100. The church officers for 1956-1957 were Mrs. Harold Cater, church clerk; Mrs. Preston Strong, treasurer; Bro. Harold D. Cater, Sunday School Superintendent; and Mrs. Cater as Training Union Director; The membership climbed to 151 during the year 1957.
